What The Feeling Wants

What to give a feeling instead of the biscuit.

You did the hard part on Tuesday. This is the bit nobody coaches you through, what a feeling actually wants, before the biscuit answers for it.

This week, I shared with you the bit you maybe didn’t want to hear: naming the feeling won’t stop you from eating the biscuits. And it was never meant to. You found the word, you did exactly the work, and then you ate the biscuits anyway and decided you’d failed.

You hadn’t. But it left the question hanging, the one you all wrote back with: so what do I actually DO with the feeling once I’ve named it?

This week’s pod is that answer. The bit that comes after the naming, the sticky place, almost every woman gets stuck on.

What’s in this episode:

  1. Why naming the feeling was only ever step one and the move that comes next

  2. The difference between answering a feeling and fixing it (and why fixing keeps you at the cupboard door)

  3. The one question to ask once you know what you’re feeling. Not what to do about it. What it wants you to know.

  4. Why “just sit with it” and “just journal it” both collapse at 9pm, and what holds when you’re running on empty

  5. The most personal thing I’ve put on here: what my own anxiety was really asking me for last year. It wasn’t food, but I was eating giant chocolate buttons and Maltesers as if they’d save me.

  6. Why you can name it, eat the biscuits anyway, and still have done it exactly right

  7. The announcement I’ve been sitting on, and where the whole method is about to live

  8. Your one move this week. Not five. One.

This is the work I do with women one to one, broken down small enough to use right now.

One thing to take into your week.

A named feeling isn’t asking to be fixed. It’s asking to be answered. The biscuit just answers fastest, never best.

That’s the whole job this week. If you do nothing else, do that.

Want the rest of the method?

What to do with each feeling, the response that meets each one, the protocol that finally breaks the loop, that’s the Stress Eating Solution. It’s being folded into the Dieting Differently membership, piece by piece, all summer.

And for a small handful of you

I’m opening a few 1:1 spaces this summer. The done-with-you version of all of this. Not open yet, small on purpose. Keep your ear to the pod and you’ll be first to know.

Send this to one woman who calls it stress when it isn’t. Most of the women I work with were sent here by a friend who said “you have to listen to this.” That’s how the work spreads.

If it hits home, please tap the like so I know to keep making these.

See you next week for the next article.
