Welcome to Dieting Differently

A Substack about dieting that isn’t about diets.

Strength and nutrition through menopause: leaner, stronger, and calmer around food. A nutritionist, PT and therapist in one place.

I run an online clinic for midlife women whose eating is the one part of life that still feels chaotic. Dieting Differently is where you get to join in: the science, the psychology, and the practical steps that make food calm again, so you can get back to the work, life, and ambitions that actually matter.

Hi, I’m Georgia,

Registered Nutritionist, personal trainer, and trainee psychotherapist. And someone whose own relationship with food was a struggle for decades before I fixed it. PCOS, exhaustion, and two decades of pushing through taught me the thing nobody in this industry wants to admit: information changes nothing until you fix the thinking underneath it.

Fixing the thinking underneath is where I work now.

Dieting Differently is for you if:

You’ve figured out most of your life. Career, business, relationships, finances. You’re not someone who can’t get things done.

Yet food is still chaotic. Still negotiating with yourself at 4 pm. Still thinking about what you ate, what you’ll eat, whether today counts. Still starting again on Monday. And it all feels harder now the hormones have changed the rules.

I’m not anti diet. I’m anti diet culture.

Diet culture tells you to be lighter and smaller to earn your happiness and peace, yet it never delivers. It doesn’t ask about your cholesterol, your blood pressure, your bone density, or the muscle you lose every year you don’t work for it.

Menopause is when we get wiser. The real numbers start to matter: heart health, strength, blood sugar, bones. Wanting to lose fat for those reasons is not vanity. It’s taking your health seriously for the first time without punishment attached.

No rules, no guilt, no smaller at any cost. Calm around food first. Then strength and nutrition for the next forty years, not the next four weeks.

You don’t need more information.

(I will die on this hill!)

You need the thinking underneath to finally change, because diet culture might have you stuck in a yo-yo dieting pattern that never serves you but you can’t let go of.

And you don’t need to do more, either. You’re not under-informed, you’re overloaded with information.

When the thinking changes, three things happen:

1. Calmer. Food noise chill the eff out. You just eat, you move on, and you get back two to three hours of headspace every single day. Favourites still taste great.

2. Stronger. Training becomes something you do for your muscle, your bones, joy, and the decades ahead, not a punishment for what you ate.

3. Leaner. The fat loss you’ve been chasing finally starts, and this time it’s for your heart and your health, not for a smaller number’s sake.

That’s what Dieting Differently does.

A bit about me

  • Former archaeologist: retrained straight after graduation when I realised I was more fascinated by what shapes people than what they left behind. (Though I did excavate at Stonehenge, which was incredible.)

  • Now a Registered Nutritionist (AFN), Personal Trainer, and trainee Counsellor & Psychotherapist (BACP), specialising in menopause, PCOS, and the thinking underneath how we eat.

  • Cancer survivor: which reshaped everything I know about health, meaning, and what actually matters in life.

  • Dangerously into fantasy novels with dragons, strong women, and (let’s be honest) a bit of fae smut.

Join the thousands of women I’ve worked with, and the hundreds who trust Dieting Differently.
